Job Description and Responsibilities:
As the first strategic finance hire in Neuralink's Finance organization, you will report directly to the Head of Finance and serve as a foundational leader in shaping our financial strategy. This role demands a blend of high-level strategic thinking and tactical execution, partnering closely with cross-functional teams to optimize growth, unit economics, and capital structure in support of our ambitious goals.
You will collaborate with engineering, operations, leadership, and external stakeholders to build robust financial models, lead performance reviews, and spearhead initiatives that enhance scalability. The ideal candidate is dynamic, proactive, and thrives in ambiguity, with a proven ability to translate complex data into actionable insights that accelerate innovation.
Key responsibilities include:
- Acting as a key partner to the leadership team on growth strategy, unit economics, and capital structure planning, providing data-driven recommendations to guide decision-making
- Building and owning Neuralink's corporate financial model, including forecasting, scenario analysis, and long-term planning
- Owning annual financial planning and working directly with key business leaders to build out thoughtful financial plans and budgets
- Leading monthly and quarterly financial reviews with the finance and leadership teams, ensuring clear communication of performance metrics, risks, and opportunities
- Driving major initiatives to improve Neuralink's unit economics, identifying efficiencies and optimizations to enable scalable growth
- Building and mentoring high-performing strategic finance teams as the function expands
- Collaborating hands-on with engineers and technical teams to integrate financial perspectives into product development and prioritization
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in finance, business, economics, or a related field (MBA or advanced degree preferred)
- 8+ years of progressive finance experience, including roles in investment banking or private equity
- Experience in a high-growth technology company, ideally with a focus on hardware or medical technology
- Hands-on modeling experience, with proficiency in building complex financial models
- Deep experience in a specific finance function such as corporate finance or product / engineering finance; some experience across the full spectrum of a company’s financial statements: revenue through cash flow
- Proven track record of leading high-performing strategic finance teams
- Demonstrated experience working collaboratively with engineers and technical teams to align product roadmaps, financial strategies, and operational realities
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in medtech or biotech industries, with familiarity in capital-intensive scaling (e.g., hardware manufacturing or clinical trials)
- Strong skills in capital structure optimization, investor relations, and unit economics analysis
- Proficiency in financial software and tools (ERP systems, Excel, Google Sheets, other financial planning tools)
- Ability to operate with urgency in a fast-paced, innovative environment while managing multiple priorities
Expected Compensation:
The anticipated base salary for this position is expected to be within the following range. Your actual base pay will be determined by your job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. We also believe in aligning our employees’ success with the company's long-term growth. As such, in addition to base salary, Neuralink offers equity compensation (in the form of Restricted Stock Units (RSU)) for all full-time employees.
