About Neuralink:

We are creating devices that enable a bi-directional interface with the brain. These devices allow us to restore movement to the paralyzed, restore sight to the blind, and revolutionize how humans interact with their digital world.

Team Description

The Medical Imaging team at Neuralink is responsible for supporting preclinical, clinical, and R&D operations across the company. Our multidisciplinary group of scientists, medical physicists, and engineers work in lockstep to test hypotheses and validate safety within preclinical models. We lead the medical imaging screening process for human participants seeking to receive the Neuralink implant, collaborating closely with Radiologists and Neurosurgeons. We drive innovation in R&D, developing new applications that leverage advanced imaging to provide critical insights for surgical planning, brain mapping, and image analysis.

About the Role

As a part-time MRI & CT Technologist at Neuralink, you will lead the scanning and acquisition efforts for our Texas-based imaging facility. You will operate the world’s most advanced imaging hardware—the Siemens Magnetom Cima.X and the NAEOTOM Alpha Photon Counting CT.

This role is centered on high-fidelity data acquisition across both clinical (human) and preclinical (veterinary) studies. Beyond standard imaging, you will be responsible for the technical setup of fMRI stimulus hardware and the administration of contrast media. You will work as a core member of a multidisciplinary team alongside veterinary staff, medical physicists, engineers, and physicians to push the boundaries of neural interface technology.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Technical Acquisition: Execute complex imaging protocols including high-resolution anatomical, functional MRI (fMRI), and photon-counting CT.
  • Contrast Administration: Safely perform peripheral IV starts and administer contrast media for both MRI and CT human subjects, working under the onsite supervision of the Radiologist and Principal Investigator.
  • Stimulus Integration: Set up and troubleshoot fMRI stimulus presentation hardware (e.g., visual/auditory stimuli, response pads, and synchronization triggers).
  • Volunteer & Subject Management: Lead the scanning process for human volunteers—including safety screening and fMRI coaching—as well as preclinical veterinary subjects.
  • Surgical & Clinical Support: Partner with Neurosurgeons and Radiologists to acquire high-quality data for surgical planning, brain mapping, and safety studies.
  • Operational Excellence: Manage day-to-day scanner readiness, coordinate vendor maintenance, and maintain impeccable QA/QC records.

Position type: Part-time or Contractor

About You

We are looking for a technologist who is technically "handy"—someone who enjoys the challenge of integrating hardware and troubleshooting the signal chain between the scanner and research equipment.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Certifications: Active ARRT (MR) and ARRT (CT) certifications.
  • Texas Licensure: Active Medical Radiologic Technologist (MRT) license through the Texas Medical Board.
  • Clinical Skills: Proficiency in IV placement and contrast administration for human subjects.
  • Console Expertise: Proficiency with Siemens Syngo (via/XA) platforms.
  • Technical Proficiency: Experience or strong comfort level with fMRI hardware setups (triggers, stimulus monitors, and cabling).
  • Research Mindset: Comfort working with both human participants and veterinary subjects in a fast-paced lab environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of experience in a high-gradient MRI environment or dedicated research facility.
  • Experience working directly with Neurosurgeons or within an OR/Surgical imaging environment.
  • Prior experience with fMRI task-based scanning and peripheral hardware synchronization.
  • A deep interest in the frontier of neurotechnology and brain-machine interfaces.
