MANAGER, PRODUCTION (STARSHIP ELECTRONICS)

As the Manager of Starship Electronics Production, you'll spearhead the creation of mission-critical electronics that power humanity's journey to the Moon and Mars. You'll drive the development of super-reliable, cost-effective, and high-rate manufacturing solutions for a diverse range of products, from precision cameras and advanced radios to robust batteries and high-power inverters. We are building high-rate linear assembly lines to produce the ultimate hybrid-electric vehicle for our solar system: a vehicle that acts as rocket, spacecraft, propellant depot, re-entry vehicle and space habitat. RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Directly manage production supervisors and technicians to assemble and test highly reliable rocket and spacecraft electronics (cameras, radios, batteries, inverters, sensors, and more!)
- Own the production line output and develop execution & continuous improvement strategies to achieve high production rates with flight quality
- Lead comprehensive training programs, scale team capabilities and implement preventative maintenance plans
- Challenge requirements to innovate; Everything is on the table between design changes, process changes, and test changes to make the best flight product & best production lines
- Foster a safe & exciting workplace that drives team growth and development through mentoring, training, and advancement opportunities, while emphasizing well-being, innovation, and collaboration.
- Partner with production engineering, SMT production, flight product engineering, supply chain, test and customer production shops
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline or 6+ years of professional experience managing production environments
- 4+ years of professional experience in production management
- 2+ years of experience managing teams with direct reports
PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
- 7+ years of professional experience in production management within electronics industries
- Proven track record of leading teams in high-volume production environments
- Experience with full life-cycle of production ramp from prototypes through high-rate production
- Strong background in lean manufacturing, process optimization, and quality control
- Demonstrated ability to work in highly cross-functional roles, partnering with engineering, supply chain, and operations teams
- Experience in fast-paced, demanding environments with a focus on innovation and rapid iteration
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, for leading teams and collaborating across disciplines
- Ability to thrive in an autonomously driven, startup-like atmosphere with a passion for extreme challenges and cutting-edge technology
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Extended hours and weekend work may be required to support critical project and mission milestones
COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:
Pay range:
Manager: $150,000.00 - $190,000.00/per year
Your actual level and base salary will be determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on the following considerations: job-related knowledge and skills, education, and experience.
Base salary is just one part of your total rewards package at SpaceX.
