SpaceX was founded under the belief that a future where humanity is out exploring the stars is fundamentally more exciting than one where we are not. Today SpaceX is actively developing the technologies to make this possible, with the ultimate goal of enabling human life on Mars.

GLOBAL SUPPLY MANAGER, PIPELINE AND GAS (STARLINK)

We are seeking a world-class Global Supply Manager to own end-to-end natural gas supply strategy, pipeline infrastructure development, and long-term contracting for SpaceX's behind-the-meter power plant infrastructure. In this role, you will partner deeply with power plant engineers and energy teams to define gas supply and pipeline strategies, secure firm capacity and transportation agreements, manage relationships with gas producers and pipeline operators, and ensure reliable, cost-effective gas delivery at the extreme scale and velocity SpaceX demands for its power plants. You will negotiate transformative contracts, deploy predictive tools for demand and risk management, drive supplier innovation, and turn gas and pipeline supply into a strategic competitive advantage that enables SpaceX's unprecedented AI infrastructure build speed. The ideal candidate brings deep expertise in natural gas markets, pipeline operations, and energy procurement in high-growth environments.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Partner deeply with responsible engineers, energy team and finance counterparts to co-define long-term gas supply strategy, pipeline infrastructure roadmaps (including new interconnections, dedicated laterals, and capacity expansions), and approved supplier lists for gas producers, midstream operators, and pipeline contractors, anticipating SpaceX's power demand 12–36 months ahead
  • Own global sourcing and contracting end-to-end for natural gas supply, firm transportation agreements, storage capacity, pipeline capacity reservations, and associated infrastructure work to deliver >99.9% gas delivery reliability while supporting SpaceX's record-breaking power plant build cadence
  • Negotiate transformative, long-term commercial agreements and precedent agreements with gas producers, marketers, interstate/intrastate pipeline operators, and midstream companies; including pricing structures, volume commitments, flexibility clauses, dedicated pipeline buildouts, interconnect rights, and priority capacity during market tightness
  • Lead pipeline project execution from sourcing through commissioning, working closely with EPC contractors, regulators, and operators to accelerate timelines for new pipeline infrastructure, while maintaining the highest safety, quality, and environmental standards
  • Deploy predictive analytics, market intelligence platforms, and AI-driven demand forecasting to anticipate gas price volatility, supply disruptions, regulatory changes, pipeline constraints, and geopolitical risks, then proactively mitigate these before they impact power generation or cluster deployment
  • Drive continuous cost leadership through should-cost modeling, structured pricing agreements, basic risk management, value engineering of pipeline designs, and portfolio optimization while ensuring ultra-high reliability and resilience for SpaceX training clusters
  • Build and maintain strategic partnerships with gas suppliers, pipeline companies, and midstream operators through executive business reviews, joint development projects, and co-innovation on custom solutions such as high-pressure laterals, advanced metering, low-emission technologies, and rapid-deployment pipeline designs
  • Champion sustainability and supply chain ethics initiatives across the full gas and pipeline value chain, including responsible sourcing, methane emissions reduction programs, lower-carbon intensity supply options, and circular practices for pipeline materials
  • Stay at the forefront of natural gas markets, pipeline regulations (FERC, PHMSA, etc.), LNG trends, midstream infrastructure developments, and behind-the-meter power solutions, then translate these insights into actionable strategies that keep SpaceX's power infrastructure at the bleeding edge of reliability, efficiency, and scalability
  • Act as a force multiplier across the organization by mentoring cross-functional teams on energy supply chain best practices and fostering a culture of ownership, speed, technical depth, regulatory foresight, and relentless optimization

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree and 6+ years of experience working in one or more of the following; or 10+ years of experience working in one or more of the following:
    • Business
    • Energy
    • Supply Chain
    • Engineering
  • 5+ years of experience in natural gas supply, pipeline capacity management, energy procurement, utilities, or power generation (including gas/steam turbines)

PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Deep technical and commercial understanding of natural gas markets, pipeline operations, firm/interruptible transportation, interconnect agreements, and behind-the-meter power plant fuel supply, with direct or transferable experience in utilities and/or gas/steam turbine systems
  • Proven track record negotiating and managing natural gas supply contracts, firm transportation agreements, pipeline capacity reservations, and infrastructure-related agreements (transferable experience in utilities or turbine-related procurement strongly valued)
  • Experience working in fast-paced, high-growth environments with aggressive scaling of energy infrastructure
  • Previous experience at energy producers, midstream companies, utilities, hyperscalers with onsite generation, or power plant developers supporting large-scale infrastructure
  • Demonstrated success delivering results in ambiguous, high-velocity environments with extremely aggressive timelines, massive scale, and complex regulatory landscapes
  • Strong negotiation, analytical, risk management, project management, and cross-functional collaboration skills
  • Familiarity with gas scheduling, demand forecasting, regulatory compliance (FERC/PHMSA), and precedent agreements for new pipeline capacity
  • Passion for SpaceX's mission and excitement about enabling the fastest AI infrastructure builds on Earth

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Willingness to travel domestically and internationally as needed to support supplier relationships, pipeline sites, regulatory meetings, and critical project execution
  • Ability to thrive in a dynamic environment with rapidly evolving priorities and world-class execution speed
  • This position is based in Austin, TX and requires being onsite

ITAR REQUIREMENTS:

  • To conform to U.S. Government export regulations, applicant must be a (i) U.S. citizen or national, (ii) U.S. lawful, permanent resident (aka green card holder), (iii) Refugee under 8 U.S.C. § 1157, or (iv) Asylee under 8 U.S.C. § 1158, or be eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State.
