Full-time
The Boring Company was founded to solve the problem of soul-destroying traffic by creating an underground network of tunnels. Today, we are creating the technology to increase tunneling speed and decrease costs by a factor of 10 or more with the ultimate goal of making Hyperloop adoption viable and enabling rapid transit across densely populated regions.
Talent Engineering is focused on recruiting with a first-principles and engineering mindset. The team works closely with both engineering and recruiting teams to create novel approaches for rapidly scaling the hiring of exceptional people. We operate with a flat organizational structure where all employees are hands-on, show initiative, and communicate clearly to deliver excellence.
Responsibilities
  • Own the full hiring process from system design through candidate closure.
  • Develop creative sourcing channels beyond LinkedIn, including referrals, event networking, hosted competitions, and targeted online communities.
  • Start every hiring need by asking: “Who are the absolute best people in the world for this role?” then build and execute end-to-end systems to identify, engage, and attract them.
  • Exercise strong judgment to recognize excellence across technical and non-technical domains.
Basic Qualifications
  • Engineering Degree
  • Experience thriving in a startup or high-growth environment, where adaptability and innovation are key.
  • Experience working at organizations with exceptional talent density, including successful referrals and recruiting contributions.
Preferred Skills and Experience
  • Proven track record building and executing recruiting systems that identify and attract top-tier talent.
  • Demonstrated technical creativity through personal projects, open-source work, or innovative hacks.
  • Comfortable with “vibe coding” and rapidly grasping technical concepts to evaluate candidates across domains.
  • Deep belief that assembling high-performance teams is an engineering problem.
  • Natural affinity for exceptional people, with a “people person” reputation among peers.
  • Nerdy engineering background combined with strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Advanced judgment in assessing excellence without reliance on traditional recruiting tools.
  • Ability to design scalable, repeatable processes while executing at high urgency.
Additional Requirements
  • Ability to work extended hours and weekends as needed to meet hiring timelines.
  • Ability to travel for events, networking, and candidate engagements as needed.
