Precast Quality Control (QC) Engineer
Dubai, UAE
CONSTRUCTION, Precast Operations
In office
Full-time
The Boring Company was founded to solve the problem of soul-destroying traffic by creating an underground network of tunnels. Today, we are creating the technology to increase tunneling speed and decrease costs by a factor of 10 or more, enabling rapid transit across densely populated regions.
We're looking for a Precast QC Engineer to own quality across the full lifecycle of our tunnel lining: raw materials, segment production, handling and storage, and installation in the tunnel, along with the grout that locks it all in place. You'll work hand-in-hand with our mining, precast production team, field engineers, and TBM crews in a fast-paced environment where quality directly gates tunneling speed.
Responsibilities:
  • Develop, implement, and maintain quality control plans, inspection and test plans (ITPs), and documentation for precast segment production
  • Perform and oversee testing of raw materials (cement, aggregates, admixtures, reinforcement) and fresh/hardened concrete
  • Inspect mold setup, reinforcement placement, casting, curing, and demolding to ensure segments meet dimensional tolerances and strength requirements
  • Inspect segment handling, storage, and transport to prevent damage between plant and tunnel
  • Perform site QC for segment installation and annular grouting, including grout mix verification and testing
  • Identify, document, and drive closure of non-conformances, and lead root-cause analysis to prevent recurrence
  • Maintain traceability records for every segment from pour to installed ring
  • Coordinate QC documentation and inspections with RTA, Dubai Municipality, and third-party testing laboratories as required
  • Ensure all QC activities comply with project specifications, applicable standards, and UAE regulatory requirements
  • Report quality metrics and trends to production and project leadership, and recommend process improvements
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Materials Science, or related discipline, or equivalent hands-on QC experience
  • Anywhere from 1–10 years of quality control experience in precast concrete, concrete production, or heavy civil construction.
  • Current ACI Field Testing Technician – Grade 1 certification, or equivalent
  • PCI Level 1 certification, or equivalent
  • Strong working knowledge of concrete mix design, testing methods, and quality documentation
  • Comfortable splitting time between a production plant and underground tunnel environments, including rotating shifts as needed
  • Currently based in the UAE or GCC region, or eligible to work in the UAE
  • Experience with precast tunnel segments or segmental lining production is a major plus
  • Experience designing concrete for durability in aggressive, saline ground conditions a plus
  • Prior QC experience on major Gulf infrastructure projects (metro, tunnels, precast plants) a major plus
Additional Requirements:
  • The position may require extended hours and weekend work
  • This role is on site / in person in Dubai, UAE
  • The position will require periodic work inside tunnels. Candidates should be comfortable with this
